Zeke Jazwinski, Staff Writer When people talk about house music, I think it’s a common misconception that they assume it’s just heavy bass music and you can barely hear yourself think. That is actually a different genre, a more techno edm style which is great, but not everyone’s cup of tea. House music originated in Chicago in the early 1980s, being an important part of … Continue reading Jasper Jams: Intro to House Music
Lois Boateng, Contributor If you ask anyone who knows me, I am the biggest lover of music, especially Christian and Afrobeats. Since the beginning of the semester, I’ve been really into uplifting and empowering songs that keep me motivated and help me stay on my feet. As a college student, I tend to sometimes lose myself in my books and the business of everyday life, … Continue reading Jasper Jams: Staying Uplifted
Flynn Myers, Staff Writer The last time I wrote for Jasper Jams, I recommended songs that were like the feeling of summer. I have since followed suit each season, except for one, and have hand-picked each song to reflect the weather and mood. Now, fall marks my final seasonal playlist. Starting right now with this … Continue reading Jasper Jams: Summer Beats
Flynn Myers, Staff Writer For my most recent Jasper Jams I wrote about the harshness of winter, emphasizing its end, that was never in sight. I am now here to tell you, spring is around the corner. Grace Cardinal, Editor-in-Chief I am honestly ashamed to say I’ve been a member of this publication for three years now, and this is my first time ever writing a Jasper Jams. However, it is quite fitting that my first go-around for this column would be for The Lumineers’ first album release since I began college. For those who may not know, my blood, and Spotify, … Continue reading Jasper Jams: ‘Automatic’ Edition
Kayla Werth, Contributor One thing about me is that I can always be found wearing my headphones or with them in reach. Walking around campus can be chaotic and overwhelming at times, but the music I listen to helps relieve any anxiety I may be feeling at the time. After listening to a variety of music genres, I’ve found a set of songs that sound … Continue reading Jasper Jams: Headphone Necessities
Angelina Perez, Senior Writer I have a confession to make… I, Angelina Perez, am a hopeless romantic and will not take any more Valentine’s Day slander. Why has it become so easy to dismiss a day celebrating love? So many kinds of love are often overlooked on Valentine’s Day, and I feel like that deserves some attention just as much as relationships. It is a … Continue reading Jasper Jams: A Hopeless Romantic’s Favorite Holiday
