LETTER from the EDITOR

Dear Readers,

Thanks for tuning in once again!

This week, I want to acknowledge the Student Press Freedom Day celebration on Feb. 22. In a year where The Quadrangle has experienced its fair share of roadblocks and setbacks, facing issues from funding to sourcing, our team has always been able to fall back on our First Amendment freedoms and knowing that we have the support of not only our readers, but other student publications going through the same struggles we have faced. The goal of the day is to have student journalists and their supporters across the US raise awareness of the challenges they face, celebrate their contributions to their schools and communities, and discuss what actions need to be taken to protect and restore our First Amendment freedoms. As members of an independent publication, we recognize how critical our role has become on this campus and in our community, and appreciate each one of you for recognizing the value student journalism holds. If you’re curious to learn more about the day or ways to take action, please visit studentpressfreedom.org.

In our issue this week, we have some great stories for you to check out. In news, we talk about Jasper Central, a new, much more convenient way for students to troubleshoot any problems they’re facing with their accounts. In features, we highlight BSU, an alumnus visit, and Valentine’s Day on campus.  For A&E, we check out Scatterbomb’s first show of the semester and our talented faculty musicians. Lastly, in a packed sports section, we cover men’s lacrosse and baseball’s season debut, a returning player and the reason we might be seeing Tom Brady’s face back on campus this semester. Be sure to check it out!

As always, thank you for checking in and reading our content. If you haven’t already this semester, be sure to follow us on social media, @mcquad on Instagram and X, and @TheQuadrangle on Facebook. After troubleshooting some technical issues, I’m also happy to announce that JasperJist will be up on running again on a weekly basis starting this Thursday. If you aren’t signed up, you can follow our link here to do so. JasperJist will keep you up to date with each week’s most pressing stories, all compiled into one easy-to-read newsletter.

That’s all for now- until next week!

Sincerely,
