High school student Kevin Convery, 18, was charged on Tuesday, May 5 with multiple counts related to an alleged April 25 on-campus sexual assault of a current Manhattan College student.
This comes following a Public Safety alert email (below) that was sent out to the college community at 2:57 a.m. on Sunday, April 26 informing that a sexual assault that had “occurred in a residence hall” the previous day was also reported to a college staff member.
According to reports released by ABC 7 Eyewitness News, CBS News New York, and News 12 The Bronx the Bergen Catholic High School student was charged with rape, sexual misconduct and sexual abuse in relation to the incident that had occurred at the college on April 25.
That Saturday, The All-American Rejects performed in Draddy Gymnasium as part of the college’s annual Spring Concert and other related activities.
According to a statement from the college, “The incident was reported to the college the day it occurred. The college provided immediate assistance to the student who made the report and provided assistance to the student’s family. Our immediate concern in such instances is the health and safety of the student and we continue to cooperate fully with the New York Police Department.”
Citing confidentiality, the college would not release additional details on the matter or confirm whether or not Convery was a registered guest on the day of the alleged incident.
The Quadrangle will continue to report on further developments related to this story.
