Jasper Jams: Brace Yourself, Springfest Is Coming

Jasper Jams took an unexpected hiatus, but the column is back and better than ever: daylight savings time has begun and better weather is upon us. This change in season means the quadrangle will soon regularly be filled with people throwing frisbees, chilling on blankets and blasting music.

It also means that on one fateful Saturday, the quadrangle will be transformed for a day full of festivities that will feature not one, not two but three musical acts this year.

It’s time for the lowdown on who will be taking the campus by storm with their hits.

Skylar Grey

Skylar Grey, born Holly Brook Hafermann, is an American singer-songwriter from Wisconsin. She’s been the brain behind the songs you know and love such as “Love The Way You Lie” and “Coming Home” which she was actually featured on. Grey has been writing and recording music since 2006 and in her time as a songwriter has even earned herself a Grammy nominee. Her most recent work was a feature on the ‘Aquaman’ soundtrack with “Everything I Need.” Songs to know: “Everything I Need,” “C’Mon Let Me Ride,” “Final Warning” and “Cannonball.”

3OH!3

3OH!3 is an electronic duo comprised of Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte from Boulder, Colorado has made music together since 2004. They’ve collaborated with Kesha and Lil Jon over the years and in 2018, celebrated the tenth anniversary of their album WANT with a tour. If you think you don’t know them, it’s time to think back to 2006-2010. Songs to know: “STARSTRUKK,” “DONTTRUSTME,” “My First Kiss” and “Touchin On My.”

Jeremih

Jeremih, born Jeremy Felton, is a singer, songwriter, and rapper. Jeremih signed with Def Jam Records in 2009 and released his debut single “Birthday Sex” the same year. Over the years, he’s worked with Ludacris, Lionel Richie, Lil Wayne, Flo Rida, Big Sean, Future and others. In June 2018, he released a song in preparation for a collaborative album with Ty Dolla Sign that was released in October 2018. Songs to know: “The Light,” “Down On Me,” “Birthday Sex,” and “All The Time.”
