After No. 10 Siena came out firing in the first half – shooting 18-33 (54.5 percent) and taking a 17 point lead into halftime – No. 7 Manhattan dug a hole they could not dig themselves out of. The Lady Jaspers lost 87-66 at the MassMutual Center in Massachusetts, and were eliminated from the MAAC Tournament.

Manhattan has won just two games in the tournament the past seven years, and is still without a MAAC Championship. The 87 points was the most scored by Siena since 2003 (323 games).

The Lady Jaspers cut the deficit to 14 after a Nicole Isaacs 3-pointer with 18:25 left, but the Saints went on an 8-0 to lead by 22 and put the game out of reach.

Isaacs finished with a career high 20 points, including 6-13 from behind the arc. Shayna Erickson recorded her second double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Allison Skrec also added 13 points.

The Lady Jaspers were out-rebounded 40-29, but it was mainly because the Saints made 46.7 percent of their shots, a season high.

Four Saints scored in double digits and three scored at least 15 points.

The Lady Jaspers split the season series with the Saints – each team won in the opposing team’s home – but were outmatched in the final meeting and led only once in the game, 5-4.

Despite the loss, the future looks bright for Manhattan. They will return everyone but seniors Skrec and Monica Roeder, who is seventh in Manhattan history with 1,381 career points.

The Lady Jaspers had nine underclassmen this season and will get back freshman Kayla Grimme, who was a two-time MAAC Rookie of the Week before getting hurt and missing the rest of the season. She averaged 9.9 points and 7.1 rebounds in just eight games.
